My sweet smile:)

The second appointment after fixing braces. Now a visible change is there on my lower jaw. The shape of my face has changed already. It looks a lot thinner now I mean the lower part of my face. I’m wondering what i’ll look like after the surgery, and even if i’ll like it.

Now it’s the Christmas time….. I decorated my whole house and this evening I’ve just been taking a few pics to see what movement there has been with my face......

When i smile you can’t see my bottom teeth at all, only the top ones, but this picture is a bit cloudy to show this excellent result to its full effect.

Fixed braces

Before i get my fixed braces fitted. My appointment is at 10 am at dental practice just to put four clips, it hurt like hell….. I wish to run out of the clinic screaming out loud but the same time I thought, I’ll bear it just for the sake of my mom’s dream, for the sake of my surgery……. My last hope………..

I wondered how’ll be my braces fixed face . I’m scared it will hurt and i don’t know how others will react. I’m worried I’ll be treated differently too. But I hope it will be quick because I start loving these procedures…

I’ve just had my fixed braces glued on 2 days ago. It doesn’t feel great to be honest, and they’re not even properly hooked up yet .

The first couple of days are supposedly the worst, so i can only hope things start to improve. I’ve the braces closed in and it means i can’t bite down or chew anything. Its also giving me a sore throat and really catching the skin in my mouth at the front and they feel absolutely HUGE ….Honestly I’d do anything for a bit of comfort . Ringed Dr. Jeomy twice or thrice and his advice was to take imol and fix relief wax on contact areas.

So far i’ve gained temporary relief (following on from a few seconds
of agony) from the following methods

  • Rinsing my mouth with boiling salt water
  • Stuffing wet tissue into the inside of my mouth
  • Taking paracetamol and/or Imole every 6 hours or when its action ends.
  • Swallowing things without chewing them
  • Only eating or drinking things in liquid form
  • Being asleep

And now its going to take a bit of getting used to!

Finally my RCT

Another specialist, another experience..... Dr. Jeomy again referred me to Dr. Ganesh C Nair for the RCT.... He is a great human being having patience enough to listen and understand his patient's feelings and anxieties...... I was late again there, only by 10 minutes but he was generous, didn't screw me for those past 600 seconds...... First day he did two teeth next day another one... He seems scared to touch those risky and complicated teeth and sent me back without finishing that. He said he needs to discuss about that case with Dr. Jeomy and finally Dr. Rodney concluded that we must keep that risky one because removing that will take another six months. In detail, already I have extracted one molar teeth near that and others are inside my gum... To cut the gum and making that come out will cost another valuable six months...... According to the instructions of Dr. Jeomy, the risky one also turned blue. Dr. Ganesh finished it as two parts in two days.... RCT was really scary, we, me n my doctor worried about that a lot but that was an interesting experience..... It doesn't hurt me but that left me a completely liquitarien........

Second Discussion

The great second discussion.... After postponing it several times due to Dr. Rodney's ill health and today am feeling tired,  confused of the present scenario and the memory of Dr. Shivapriyan's insult but here Dr. Oommen appeared like an angel, consoled me and said if you are not interested will think about another specialist, you do not need to visit him again........  Then he confirmed that preparing my teeth for the surgery will take 1 and half years.... I was completely in a dilemma to move on with it or quit it here but finally I decided to move on because some treatments should have definitely done on my teeth in order to keep that inside my mouth..... So now it’s not only the case of cosmetic issue.... A bit worried, a bit confused I’m moving forward.........

First Disappointment...:(

For the root canal treatment my dentist referred me to Dr. Shivapriyan, endodontist, a tall, slim and dark guy with a rude look..... His hands with a golden wrist watch caught my attention easily because that was the only shining thing over there I mean on that whole clinic.... His merciless look and talks frightened me a little. With a little fear I fixed an appointment with him on today morning at 9'o clock.....

Since am residing so far away from his clinic, I started my journey, my dangerous mission early in the morning around 6 am but this hectic traffic blocks, bus waiting's made me late and I reached his clinic at 9.15 am, 15 mins late  from the fixed appointment and I found that clinic empty... We, me and my sister sat there at the patient's waiting room for another 25 mins then he turned up with a devilish smile attached on his face..... He said am late, very late and started another 1 and 1/2 hour continuous firing without listening or giving a chance to clarify my part....A bit later I stopped listening his scolding I just noticed his lip movements.... His nose and lips were vibrating with anger...... My other doctors, Dr. Oommen, Dr. Jeomy and Dr Rodney, they were all very kind to me..... I never imagined such a bad situation there so I stood there motionless not able to adjust with that current scenario..... After a while I went near him and asked, what should I do now??? without knowing my doctors will help me to find another specialist to perform root canal..... He grinned at me demonically and said " i dont've time to do your RCT now, call me later, fix an appointment then come again", i turned back and slowly headed out to my sister who was waiting there outside of the room unable to accept his insult.... I knew I was late, and that was my mistake only because doctors don’t need to think about patient's problems apart from those treatments based ones but a humanity that was missing there... Am ready to agree that whatever happened, that all are my fault and he doesn't have time to do my RCT on that particular day but he'd have shown a little mercy on me, he'd have told that calmly with a voice which a normal person do not get frightened.....i'm a short girl only 5 feet long, near me he is like a mountain.... The scene was like a dinosaur trying to eat one kid!!!!!!This one was my first and worst experience which i never ever want to happen again in my life.....:(

On the way back to home i ringed my dentist and described him the bad experience which i have received from Dr Shivapriyan.... To my great relief, he consoled me and assured me that he'll discuss this with Dr.  Oommen.

First Discussion

Had a discussion with Dr Oommen Aju Jacob, he said my teeth formed as a fiber root system... and so my almost all teeth are damaged or infected so i have to take a deep cleaning and then four of my molar teeth should endure a root canal treatment, and one of them 6+ is risky one with deep cavity ..... Afterwards i should take an x-ray (Lateral Ceph) and an OPG then with that results i should consult his assistant surgeon, Dr Jeomy Zachariah Oommen.......

Then I had another appointment with Dr Jeomy at his clinic, he cleaned my both set of teeth and has given me a brief introduction about my whole treatments including surgery. He reminds me that the next step is to fix braces for that I should consult another doctor, one Mr. Rodney Joseph...

The begining.........

Hi friends, i wish to quote my whole treatment history here so let me start from the beginning, being a pre mature baby i was having alot of dental problems and my face, that is totally awkward with big nose, big lips and a small chin( in my doctors view i don't have a chin:):) ). moreover, my smile is also sooo much ugly one with colored and unformed teeth .... At first i thought this can be corrected through a plastic surgery so i took the appointment of Dr. Jimmy Thomas, a plastic surgeon but Dr. Jimmy advised me to consult Dr. Oommen Aju jacob a maxilofacial surgeon, his colleague and friend.......

Dr. Oommen is out of station so Dr. Jimmy assured me that he'll ring me later after fixing an appointment with Dr. Oommen.

The BIG start...:)

Hi all, i'm Sherin and i'm at the beginning of a long journey into the realms of orthodontistry. My doctors hoping that we'll do a jaw breaking and resetting surgery in another few years. The operation is called orthognathic surgery. In my case it is going to be on my both jaws, which will be removed, moved forward by the gap of two teeth and reattached with steel pins.

From November, i will wear fixed braces on both sets of teeth. This blog is a record of my thoughts and feelings during this treatment period.......
